Congratulations Graduates! Congratulations to Adam Jaffe, Maggie Daly and Adler Chang who received their degrees this month. Adam will be entering graduate school in chemistry at Stanford, Maggie will be teaching science in Chicago with Teach for America and Adler will be working for a biotech company. Best wishes Adler, Maggie and Adam!

Congratulations Dr. Meghan Lieb Meghan Lieb defended her thesis: Toward an effective direct ethanol fuel cell through the use of cation exchanged Nafion membranes. Meghan is now working for WD-40. Congratulations, Meghan!

Congratulations Dr. Kate Keets Kate Keets defended her thesis Part I: Photoactivatable platinum(IV) pro-drugs as novel delivery vehicles for chemotherapeutics. Part II: Pyridinium-catalyzed photoelectrochemical reduction of CO2 to multi-carbon products on P-gallium arsenide electrodes. Kate is now working at Liquid Light. Good Luck, Kate!

Congratulations Dr. Ellazar Niangar Ely Niangar defended his thesis: Multiphase anode catalysts for ethanol oxidation in direct ethanol PEM fuel cells (DEFCs). Ely is now working for Nissan in their Fuel Cell and Battery Laboratory. Best wishes, Ely!

Michelle Shearer, '95 Named 2011 National Teacher of the Year Michelle completed her senior thesis research in the Bocarsly lab in 1995. Michelle has taught at schools in Maryland including Urbana High School and the Maryland School for the Deaf. Her efforts to spur all students to success in chemistry have been duly recognized. Congratulations Michelle!
